What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway for its authentic heritage experience, friendly volunteer staff, and picturesque Yorkshire setting. The steam trains, historic stations, and the Carriages Museum are highlights, offering a nostalgic journey for all ages. Some minor dislikes include the need to check timetables carefully and the potential for crowds during special events.
"This has got to be one of the best places in the UK, not just Yorkshire.
I went there yesterday 15.06.2025 with my husband.
Every single member of staff made the whole experience an absolutely fantastic one.
We also went on the restaurant car and had afternoon tea (pre booked that) which was out of this world. The gentleman called Ross was so lovely.
All the staff were happy to help and guide us with anything.
All the staff are volunteers which to me made it even more special as they didn't have to be there
Can't recommend this place any more.
The steam trains are so well looked after and maintained. Stream drivers, signalmen etc must be so used to having their pictures taken as none of them seems to mind when taking pictures of the trains and buildings they are in.... In fact gave us a big smiles and waves at times.
The museum is a must see too... Gentleman there was very knowledgeable and friendly
Thank you to each and every person who made our day so very special
You are all worth your weight in gold"

"It's a lovely day out, both the railway itself and the area nearby. The staff are all friendly and chatty and the railway is dog-friendly too. The railway feels very historic and all of the stations are old-time style.
I recommend visiting the railway's own Carriages Museum at Ingrow and also the Bus Museum at Keighley.
Most of the stations on the line have toilets and some sort of food/drink service.
If you only want to ride a steam train, it's worth checking the schedules online before you travel here as they do run both steam and diesel trains."

"Get ready to be transported back in time. Back to a slower time of character and sensory delight. It is not a long distance from Keighley to Oxenhope, but you will feel you travelled back 70 years. The noise, smells and ambiance conjour imagination.
When was the last time you started a conversation with a random stranger on a train? On the Worth Valley Railway it seems natural to do so,
If thus review is useful, please consider following me for more ideas of places to visit. Thank you."
