What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Yorke's Folly Two Stoops is highly praised for its exceptional Michelin-starred dining, beautiful countryside location, and comfortable accommodations. Guests consistently highlight the delicious and innovative food, attentive service, and the scenic drive through the Yorkshire Dales. However, some visitors have noted limitations with dietary accommodations for tasting menus and minor points regarding the post-meal coffee experience.
"We stayed here for 1 night as a family and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We had dinner in the main restaurant which was wonderful. The dishes were delicious and interesting and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. We ended up staying for both breakfast and lunch the next day as it snowed early in the morning, and we couldn't drive out of the driveway for a few hours because of it. The way in which our plight was handled was very conscientious and we were well looked after. Extremely comfortable beds and rooms too.
The only slight downfall was the fact that they were unable to accommodate our dietary requirements for the tasting menu. We had all hoped to get the tasting menu as a table, but were told that it was "very meaty" and that it could not be adjusted for 2 vegetarians/pescatarians. We have had dinner in other Michelin starred restaurants before where they have done so, no questions asked, so we were a bit taken aback by this as we were looking forward to trying the 8 courses. The food we did have was amazing, it just would have been nice to try more of it!"

"Well Worth the Journey…
The Yorke Arms is a beautiful 18th century coaching house and shooting lodge located in Ramsgill in the Nidderdale Valley. The location is at least a 40 minute drive from any major town and the drive though the Yorkshire Dales takes you past the most amazing and outstanding countryside with natural beauty that would be hard to beat anywhere else - making the trip worthwhile in itself. Although there are rooms for overnight stays, we were there for the food…After entering into a charming old bar/reception area, we were taken into the main dining room which is decorated in the style of classic British elegance. And classic was the theme for the whole experience. Formal, polite, yet friendly service. Disappointingly, the Tasting Menu is not available at lunch although the three course lunch menu priced at £45 has a breadth of options for all tastes. After being seated, delicate parmesan tartlets and home made crisps were served - with the bold flavour of the cheese awakening the palate. A small beetroot jelly followed, which was on the opposite end of the taste spectrum, stretching the range of the taste buds for maximum appreciation of the main event...We started with “Cured Halibut, Horseradish - Scallop & Whitby Crab” which was presented on the plate like a work of art with each ingredient separated far enough apart to enjoy them on their own or mixed with the different sauces/dressings spread or dotted across the “canvas”. Main course was “Alexander Crusted Venison, Rubbed Calves Liver - Spelt & Relish”. Tender, perfectly cooked juicy venison. The calves liver was smooth, gamey and an ideal match for the meat. Rich, tasty gravy tied everything together. For dessert, “Dark Chocolate - Lemon, Ginger, Salted Milk Ice Cream”. Again, a selection of beautifully presented items on the plate, delicious in isolation and heavenly when combined. Coffee and petit fours were served on the other side of the bar/reception area in the lounge. This was the weakest part of the experience. The coffee, although tasty, was described on the menu as Nespresso - somehow it doesn’t feel special when you know you’re drinking retail coffee at a Michelin starred restaurant, that you can make at home. It would have been better to not have the coffee described as Nespresso and have been none the wiser. Also, the lounge area was filled to capacity and it felt as though everyone was on top of each other with no privacy. These two factors unfortunately prevent The Yorke Arms from being a 5 star experience. Nevertheless, the food and wine were outstanding, innovative yet classic, overall good value and worth the journey though the natural and beautiful countryside of the Yorkshire Dales. Fully recommended."

"Stayed here for a wedding, staff were excellent throughout the whole weekend. The loacation and setting of the Yorke arms was excellent. The breakfast served in the morning was 10 out of 10. The room was perfect, with great shower and facilites. I shared the room with my disable nephew and he had no problems getting around the venue apart from after a few drinks! Great location for a wedding and excellently facillitated by the Yorke arms."
