Reviews Summary
Pencester Gardens is a central green space in Dover, appreciated for its riverside tranquility and views of Dover Castle. It serves as a popular venue for community events, funfairs, and festivals, offering a lively atmosphere. While some visitors note a lack of floral displays and occasional issues with cleanliness or loitering, its accessibility and role as an event hub make it a valuable local amenity.
"Pencester Gardens is a small green space in the heart of Dover. Nestled between the shopping areas. The garden offers a central place to meet, sit on a bench. It has amazing view of Dover Castle and St Mary' Church. We can stroll along the River Dour, which is at edge of the park. River has clear waters, big fishes, ducks, and other birds. There is skateboard area for youngsters and play area for kids. It has clean Public Toilet too (Closed @ 6.00 pm). Nice connectivity as little walk from Dover Priory Station and the main Bus Station is just adjacent.
Sometimes, they have fairs, exhibitions or concerts in a garden. Its fun !!
However, garden has not flower beds, drinking water facility or any other basic and attractive facilities. Cleanliness is not looked after properly. Benches are occupied by dunked or homeless people. They drink, smoke and throw can & butts here and there. Sometime it is scary to walk in the late evenings.
Potential, the Garden could have been much much better. Now it is mainly use as a pathway between Market Square and Bus Stop.
Suggestion : Dover Town Council should make this Garden beautiful and Must visit place in Dover"
