"2nd Visit 28th August 2024 - 4 Stars
We went back to try again and then followed it by an amazing meal at the George down the road. This time it was a totally different experience. These are the bridge ruins but there are a lot of them and you can imagine the hustle and bustle of those using it to cross the River Tees. I liked it and would recommend a visit if you are in to that kind of thing which I am. And do not forget about the George pub and I recommend the 'Cow Pig' Burger oh my word topped with pulled pork. Incredible.

1st Visit 5th August 2024 - 2 Stars
2 Stars purely because we followed the brown tourist signs from the road showing "Roman Bridge" while on a buzz on the way back to Darlington from visiting the Winston "Spitfire" Bridge up the road. Not the best signage and not only ourselves but another couple were confused as much as we were. To be honest, if i had Googled it, we would have found it in hindsight. It's one to return to now we have more information. The bridge we crossed is obviously old, but not Roman and is a short distance from where we should have been over the bridge passed the pub on your left and further along to a decent sized car park."
