Reviews Summary

Visitors find Pegwell Bay a worthwhile destination, particularly for its unique landscape of chalk cliffs and historical remnants like the hovercraft terminal. The opportunity to beachcomb and spot seals adds to its appeal, though the £10 fee to drive onto the beach is noted. The exposed coastal weather and tidal nature require preparation.

"We were a little surprised that we had to pay £10 to drive onto the beach but it was totally worth it. It was like a treasure trove of shells and stones with a great view. Lots of space for everyone so not overcrowded. You can drive through to deal for £5. We will definitely do this next time."

"If you enjoy watching seals basking on sandbanks then go to "Sea Searcher" of Ramsgate for a lovely couple of hours on a local boat that takes you safely to the River Stour Sandwich and pegwell bay you won't be disappointed."

john ingham

"Large bay with a big area of tidal salt marsh, and striking chalk cliffs on the Ramsgate side. Great place to see lots of seabirds and marine life, and very quiet compared to the nearby towns.
The abandoned remains of the old hovercraft terminal are an interesting historic feature. When the tide is out, it's worth exploring the chalk cliffs, as there's a small stack, rock arch and caves. There are old tunnels leading through the cliffs but most aren't easily accessible. Be prepared for the smell of seaweed on hot days!"
