What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Minnis Bay is widely praised as a lovely, family-friendly beach with shallow, sandy waters perfect for paddling and play. Visitors appreciate the promenade for walks and the beautiful sunsets. However, some find the dining options pricey and the beach can be affected by seaweed, with the tide significantly impacting usable beach space at high water.
"Minnis Bay is broad and unspoilt. From the recently-refurbished children's sea pool at the eastern end, you can see all the way along the gently-sloping sandy shore, past the seasonal beach huts, to the Reculver towers 6km to the west. The Viking Coastal Trail cycle path follows the route past the Minnis Bay Bar & Brasserie, where you can eat, drink, and enjoy the view. Waves cafe, bar, B&B is opposite, and you can hire bikes next to the ice cream parlour. Beyond these refreshment stops, walkers have the lower promenade, and cyclists, walkers and dog owners have the upper coastal path to enjoy, with room to explore and relax on any of the many benches looking out to sea. Well worth a visit."

"Minnis Bay Beach is such a lovely spot! I had so much fun running around and splashing in the water — I even managed to get my shorts wet (oops!). The beach has a great atmosphere, and it’s perfect for enjoying the sea breeze and a bit of carefree fun. Definitely a place I’d go back to for another sunny day out!"

"A perfect beach for the family - very shallow beach which means you have to go a long way to seldom. It also means the tide comes in very fast and at high tide most of the beach is underwater. Lifeguards are on duty from 10 and dogs are allowed after the turned groin. Plenty of free parking but there is also a car park you have to pay for. Public toilets are available and plenty of places for icecreams, drinks, food. You can also hire bikes to go along the sea wall to Reculver (or further). Lots of beach huts that you can hire. The lifeguarded section can get very busy. Our grandchildren loved their time on the beach."
