What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Richmond market town is widely praised for its vibrant Saturday market, offering a great selection of local produce, crafts, and food. Visitors appreciate the historic charm of the Market Place and its surrounding buildings. However, some find the Wednesday market unreliable and parking can be a challenge during peak times.
"Enjoyed browsing around this bustling Saturday market (there's also a smaller market here on Wednesdays). Lots of food stalls, including some good quality fruit and veg, cheese, confectionery and a van where you could get oak smoked fish and seafood. There were also flowers and plants, some nice clothing and crafts. Very friendly people, especially the lady who helped me with directions to the Castle Walk! The cobbled marketplace is surrounded by beautiful historic buildings, including the Town Hall, the Victorian Market Hall, and the 12th century Holy Trinity Church which is now a museum dedicated to the Green Howards Yorkshire Regiment. Plenty of shops and cafes around the square too. There's free parking (short stay up to 2 hours), and some decent toilets inside the Market Hall."

"Great market right in the centre of town. Great place to pick up some awesome cheese, delicious chutneys and beautiful local honey."

"Outdoor Not open even though the Web site says it is on a wendsday. And the indoor market three quarters empty and the stalls that are there are selling the usual Chinese imported junk and poor laser engraved tatt, not worth the hassle of trying to find one of the three available disabled parking slots in the whole town.
And being Yorkshire and a wendsday everything closes in the afternoon, I live in Yorkshire and this not opening Mondays and half day wendsday is a joke, I'm a local buiseness owner in pontifract and am amazed at this archaic practice. I'm sure it's great if you catch it on the odd day when things are open. And a note to the council given the average age of the visitors a few more disabled parking spaces would be nice. It took me forty minutes to struggle to the closed outdoor market! Not impressed come on Yorkshire we can do better than this."
