Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the RNLI Discovery Gallery for its free entry, poignant exhibits, and the opportunity to learn about the brave history of the RNLI. The 1938 Surf Class Lifeboat and its Dunkirk connection are standout features, with many appreciating the insights shared by passionate volunteers. While small, it's considered a worthwhile and moving experience.

"Located in the old Poole Lifeboat house, the Poole Lifeboat Museum is definitely worth a visit. Though fairly small, the old Boathouse houses a treasure trove of exhibits, central to which is their 1938 Surf Class Lifeboat, which was also one of the "Dunkirk Little Ships" by the way. Now, she proudly stands poised at the head of the old slipway, awaiting a call to service that will never come.

Outside the museum building is a memorial to all those servicemen who left Poole for the Normandy Landings in June 1944.

There is a small gift shop inside the museum which sells a variety of items, all in aid of the RNLI. If you are visiting Poole, add this museum to your list of places to see!"

Mitch Peeke

Oliver Dyche

"Very interesting, quite small but packed with information about lifeboats! Fascinating to learn about the boats that went to Dunkirk."
