"Do visit the lifeboat house at Whitstable Harbour. It comprises the shop and the lifeboat house where the lifeboat and it's launching trolley and tractor are kept and maintained. At suitable times you can witness the lifeboat launch and recovery, either for training, or for real. The lifeboat crew are friendly and can always explain their operations if it's not an emergency. The shop is clean, well stocked, and operated by friendly staff who are volunteering their service. They serve tea, coffee and soft drinks and a variety of homemade cakes on special occasions. You can sit outside or inside at tables. They are dog friendly and it is popular with cyclists who can enjoy a tea and keep an eye on their bikes. The shop is stocked with a variety of gifts, toys, cards, etc, which all supports the lifeboat operations. Kids love the place and the toys. Do support them."
