Roche Rock in Cornwall, this spectacular site has been a ruin for more than 300 years and is steeped in legend. St Michael's was built in the 15th century potentially for a hermit priest or maybe a leper relative of a local noble. Some say that the Cornish magistrate Jan Tregeagle fled here after killing his wife and still haunts the countryside to this day. #churchesofinstagram #church #churche...

The dramatic granite outcrop and surrounding moorland offer beautiful vistas and a sense of rugged adventure. Some find parking and path maintenance can be challenging.

"Good historical site. Parked in the free carpark around the corner and then walked to the public footpath. The footpath inside is not very well maintained so the bushes cover it a little.

Looks good in rainy weather. Spooky vibe"

Jess

"Beautiful hidden gem , easy to find, supposed to be a car park but we could not find it , It was not sign posted, we parked in a layby near the sports club, there are toilet facilities near by in the Village opposite the church, there,s a steep climb up to the rock, but well worth it just for the beautiful vistas of Bodmin moor."

Tony “The old Seadog” Haley

"Really atmospheric.
Stick to the footpath from the road during summer though, as the route from the playing field gets very overgrown with gorse and brambles!
Shame you can no longer climb up to the ruins though."
