"Small but quaint with beautiful gardens. Very relaxing to sit toverlooking the downs, quintessential English Summer. As a cremacist, I did not like fireplace painted by Vanessa Bell as painting is a different art to ceramics and it lacked technical expertise. Note there was nowhere there or nearby to buy a drink. Staff were very friendly."

"A nice house in beautiful and extensive grounds. We went on a sunny afternoon and it was quite delightful. It was the second time we had visited and I think I enjoyed it more this time. Park down the road and walk up. There are no refreshments at the house but you could take a picnic and then play bowls. Why not!"

I enjoyed walking across the downs from Southease Station up to the house and particularly loved seeing the English countywide and the garden at Monk’s House in all the glory of spring.
