"I came here twice on two successive evenings during a visit to Rye. I had heard that this is a unique place for birdwatching, especially when the migrant birds stop over. August was therefore not the ideal time. But I observed at least 27 species, but in recent years 280 species of birds have been recorded on the Reserve, so I must come back for more. Entrance is free and the footpaths are mostly flat and accessible also for wheelchairs and there are a few bird hides. As usual in such nature reserves, one needs very good binoculars and/or a camera with an impressive zoom lens to capture the birds which are mostly a long way away. There is a Discovery Centre with a Café, but this closes early."

"There are no words to describe the beauty of our time spent in the Nature Reserve! We could’ve spent a whole day here. Really enjoyed biking through the reserve and stopping to admire the flowers that were blooming and to read the plaques! We rode all the way to the end of the reserve and got to see some sheep grazing!"
