What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Seahouses Harbour is a beloved destination, primarily for its gateway role to the spectacular Farne Islands and its charming seaside atmosphere. Visitors consistently praise the incredible wildlife encounters on boat tours, the delicious fish and chips, and the picturesque harbour setting. While the North Sea can be choppy, most find the experience well worth it.
"Lovely little place to see and visit, we took a boat out to see the puffins at the islands and honestly was one of the best things I have seen or done even though as itβs the North Sea and a very small boat was very choppy. It is a very small little fishing town with a couple of pubs and fish and chips. If you are in the area worth a visit. If not and itβs puffin season then well worth travelling for!"

"Delicious Fish and Chips. Interesting shops and then there are the cruise boats....quite a few to choose from....for boat rides around the Farne Islands. We went on Serenity Cruises, crew and staff absolutely awesome."

"Took a bracing walk around the harbour after a choppy but enjoyable boat trip out to the Farne Islands. Seahouses used to be a thriving port for herring fishing, and there are still fishing boats in the harbour, but now it's mostly excursion boats taking visitors out to Holy Island, the Farne Islands to spot marine wildlife, and on diving trips to shipwrecks along the coast. It was also a nice place for me to enjoy a stroll, and watch the waves crashing against the harbour wall. There's a sandy beach right next to the harbour, a stone pier with a small lighthouse at the end, and great views along the coast and across to Bamburgh Castle. You can buy seafood at a kiosk on the quayside, and there's another one where you can get sandwiches, hot snacks and drinks. Several cafes, fish and chip restaurants and pubs in the streets behind the harbour, and free public toilets just a short walk up the hill, close to the Tourist Information Centre and a pay and display car park."
