Embrace the Elements: Dress for the Weather

Shakespeare's Globe is an open-air theatre, so be prepared for London's unpredictable weather. Bring layers, a waterproof jacket, and consider a small umbrella if rain is forecast. Even in summer, evenings can be cool.

Groundling Tickets: An Authentic Experience

For the most authentic Elizabethan theatre experience, opt for 'groundling' standing tickets. They're the cheapest option and place you right at the heart of the action, but be prepared to stand for the duration of the play.

Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre is like stepping back in time. It looks just like old London. 🎭 I recently watched “The Comedy of Errors” at @the_globe , and the atmosphere was amazing. It’s really cool...

Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Shakespeare's Globe for its immersive and authentic theatrical experience, especially the energy of groundling tickets. The unique open-air setting and the quality of performances are frequently highlighted as major draws. However, some find standing for extended periods uncomfortable, and weather can be a factor for those in exposed areas.

"The Globe Tour and the play we attended were truly inspiring experiences. We embarked on a morning guided tour with the incredible Gabi, who illuminated the rich history of The Globe for us. Afterward, we savored a delightful brunch at a nearby Borough Market before returning for the show. Today, we watched The Merry Wives of Windsor, sharing a couple of glasses of wine along the way. Make sure to reserve a seat with a cushion for added comfort. And remember, you don’t have to ‘spend a penny’ to spend a penny!"

Joanna Uchwat

"Yes, it's pricey if you need a seat but a wonderful experience. Would thoroughly recommend. It's even more fun if you can come in costume. Other members of the audience had done the tour in the morning and really really enjoyed it. Very informative and a lot to see and learn about."

Fi Lyford

"Went to see Romeo and Juliet at this iconic theatre. The theatre was absolutely packed in both the floor standing room and in the balcony seats. The show was amazing, fun, entertaining, and true to The Bard's spirit. Bravo! This theatre, a faithful replacement of the original Globe, which Shakespeare built and burned down in the 1600s, is a "must visit" for any visitor to London with an interest in English literary culture. Kudos to the late, great Sam Wannamaker for spearheading the building of this replica icon. The theatre staff and volunteers are welcoming, friendly, and great ambassadors for Shakespeare's Globe! Highly recommended!"
