What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the stunning landscaping and extensive gardens, highlighting the beauty of the Capability Brown designs and mature trees. The adjoining garden centre and its cafe also receive positive mentions for quality refreshments. While the castle interior is appreciated for its furnishings and knowledgeable guides, some find it less impressive than the grounds, and the 'museum' aspect is limited to one room. The lack of an on-site cafe and the no-photography rule inside the castle are minor drawbacks for some.
"It was a lovely walk and a pleasant visit. I really enjoyed the garden—well-landscaped with beautiful trees thoughtfully planted. The walking paths were easy, and I appreciated the informative signage describing trees that are over 100 years old.
We didn’t visit the castle as the next guided tour required a long wait, so we decided to skip it. Still, the gardens alone made the visit worthwhile. The staffs were friendly and helpful."

"Stunning landscaping but not the most impressive of houses as Nd the "museum" was on room.
The walled garden , garden centre was probably the best stocked garden centre we've ever been to. Coffee from the cafe was great quality, very tasty!"
Lea South (Leasouth)
"There are 2 shortish walks here, around the beautiful lake and magnificent trees. Restaurant/cafe is permanently closed - you have to go to the nearby garden centre if you want refreshments and your ticket gives you a reduction if you eat or drink there. We booked a timed slot for the house tour the day before. Because we had our dog with us we had to select separate times to go in. The guide (Jonathan) was excellent and told us so much about the house and it's interior, this took an hour and a quarter. No photos are allowed inside."
