What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Shorncote Reedbed Nature Reserve is praised for its abundant wildlife and free access to its two bird hides. Visitors appreciate the opportunity to see diverse species, including rare ones like the Bittern, and the peaceful nature of the location. However, some visitors have noted issues with litter left behind, emphasizing the need for responsible visitor behavior.
"Shorncote Reedbeds Bird Hide is owned by the Cotswold Lakes Trust. Here there is a 20 hectare reedbed. These reedbeds provide shelter for a huge variety of wildlife, including Reed Bunting, Reed Warbler, Little Grebe, Snipe, Otter, Water Vole, dragonflies and even the rare Bittern. Unfortunately some people do not respect the hides and we found rubbish in the first hide at the site. Please take your rubbish home if you visit these hides as they provide the public with a great spot to watch & photograph wildlife for Free. There are two hides at the site. The first is at the edge of the reedbeds and the second The Hayward Hide faces a lake and has information boards about the wildlife to be found at the Lakes. Both hides Worth a visit as well under used."
