Spread across rolling lawns on Headington Hill, it offers sweeping views back towards the Oxford skyline—one of the few places where you can see the famous “dreaming spires” rising above the trees. On a clear evening, the view of the towers glowing in the sunset is unforgettable.
Historically, the land was once part of Headington Manor estate, later transformed into public parkland in the 20th century. Today, South Park is not just a recreational field but also a cultural venue. It has hosted major events such as Radiohead’s legendary homecoming concert in 2001, food festivals, community fairs, and open-air performances. This blend of everyday calm and occasional festivity gives it a unique character.
On a normal day, the park is wide and open, perfect for walking, jogging, or simply lying on the grass.
