What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Splashpoint Leisure Centre is a modern facility with a well-loved sauna and a fun family pool, though the website booking system can be a point of frustration. Visitors appreciate the attentive lifeguards and helpful reception staff, but some find the lanes pool less ideal for serious swimmers and note that busy periods can lead to overcrowding.
"Haven't been swimming for a number of years but I have recently had to have a Hernia operation that needed a larger incision than normal (5" scar). So Swimming & a Sauna is a massive part of my rehab & later on some Gym work will also be a benefit. Swimming, Sauna & Gym, all in one handy place at Worthing Splashpoint Leisure Centre!
Wonderful new building with three separate area's for Swimming. 1 fun family friendly pool with a waterside & other fun stuff, 2 a Lanes pool unfortunately not Olympic Length but plenty long enough to make me feel that only 10 lengths was plenty long enough in my current condition, 3 diving pool that makes me wish for years gone by.
All the pools are very well attended by multiple Lifeguards, who were all very attentive & switched on. I could see that each of the Lifeguards had their duty posts rotated at good short intervals which is very reassuring & shows they really know what they are doing.
The Sauna is off away from the family pool & is Heavenly & a real treat. I haven't seen the Gym yet that's aways down the road for me at the moment.
I can't say that the website you'll be directed to is great, it's not. The two bookings I've made so far went wrong.
What is great is the staff at the reception desk, incredibly helpful & managed to sort out the kinks with my bookings with ease. A super helpful lady Joe really helped.
I will be popping along to see Louisa, a member of the Splashpoint membership team to discuss my best membership options.
While I've only been there twice since my operation I know that the Swimming & Sauna have really helped, easier to move & less pain.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍"

"Went with two kids on an inflate session day, extremely crowded in both pools. Multiple people doing down the slide at once in incorrect positions and lifeguards spoke to them 1/5 of the time. Lifeguards in the inflatable section told off most of the kids (some of them not even in the wrong) but overall good experience for what it was worth but would go to larger splash parks in the future."

"An excellent leisure centre.
Choose your staff member carefully and you will get both freindly and professional service. Some of the Reception staff and trainers make it a joy to be there.
Sadly, the equipment and staffing levels are showing signs of inevitable financial cutbacks - not the fault of the staff of course. SDL's investors might want to think of this when they receive their next dividend.
However, if you are disabled and dependent on the lift, - beware. It frequently breaks down and takes weeks to repair. A management statement of outrage with the maintenance company would go a long way.
Quibbles aside, Splashpoint enriches Worthing lives."

Swimming for Fitness vs. Fun
To maximize your fitness experience, aim for weekday mornings or late afternoons when the crowds tend to thin out. This allows for more uninterrupted lane space. The presence of multiple, attentive lifeguards across all pool areas adds a layer of safety and reassurance for all visitors.
If your primary goal is dedicated, long-distance training, you might find other facilities more suitable. However, for general fitness swimming and a good cardio session, Splashpoint offers a viable option, especially outside of peak family hours.
The Sauna Experience
Many visitors find the sauna to be an excellent addition to their visit, particularly for rehabilitation or simply unwinding after a swim. The peaceful ambiance and heat are often praised for their therapeutic benefits. It's a perfect way to enhance your leisure centre visit and add an element of indulgence to your day.
While the pools cater to different activity levels, the sauna offers a consistent experience of calm and rejuvenation for all. It's a simple yet highly effective amenity that significantly contributes to the positive reviews of the centre.
Navigating the Website and Bookings
Despite the website's shortcomings, the staff at the reception desk are consistently praised for their helpfulness and efficiency in resolving booking issues. They are often able to sort out kinks with bookings with ease, turning a potentially negative experience into a positive one.
It's advisable to book your sessions in advance to secure your spot, especially for popular activities like inflatable sessions. However, be prepared for potential website glitches and rely on the friendly reception staff to assist you if needed. This community wisdom suggests a proactive approach to booking and a willingness to engage with the staff for a smoother experience.
