"Couldn't fail to notice this beautiful and peaceful church located right in the middle of Sidmouth's bustling town centre. It's dedicated to St Giles and St Nicholas. Although most of the building is Victorian, it somehow feels a lot older, and the tall crenellated tower actually dates back to the 15th century. There are two entrances, one with an automatic door. Inside, there's a font with an intricately carved wooden cover, and an interesting little chapel. I especially loved the wonderful Victorian stained glass windows! Lovely serene atmosphere. You can buy postcards, books and souvenirs at the entrance. The churchyard is shaded by magnificent yew trees and has a well-kept war memorial. Worth spending some quiet time here."
