"Cracking place this
If you're into industrial heritage it's a must visit
So much history in one place .
Great set of volunteers who look after everything and offer their knowledge . Wealth of information on tap and guided tours if you want one.
Very relaxed atmosphere compared to most museums , you're left free to explore the site / exhibits
They have certain days when various engines run but the water powered machinery is shown off daily.
Not very often you see in-situ 1600/1700's machinery still in a working state
There is also a steam railway set in the grounds which is a top addition to the site.
Entry fee is very fair"

"This is a hidden gem.
My partner and I spent a few hours here chatting to the volunteers who help run the machinery and the forge. Very interesting and knowledgeable men. It was lovely having a tour around the forge and getting to see how some of the equipment work first hand. There's also a cute miniature train that you can go on, toilets and also a tea room on site.
Will definitely go back.
There's an open day on the 1st September 2024."
