The tiny car-free isle of Ulva (Norse for ‘wolf’) off Mull is one of my happy places on this earth. You hail the little ferry by pushing the signal to red & are transported over crystal clear waters brimming with jellyfish to the magical island. There are loads of signposted footpaths to explore woods, historic houses & churches and walled gardens. It has such a peaceful atmosphere & so much chara...

To reach the Isle of Ulva, off Mull’s west coast, you don’t just turn up and wait. You contact the ferryman using a signal board. Red means “come across” and white means “no ferry needed.” It’s one of the most unique little ferry journeys in Scotland, and it only takes a few minutes across the water. 🚤 @theulvaferry 📍Isle of Ulva, Scotland #isleofulva #scottishislands #scotlandtravel #scotlan...

Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Isle of Ulva for its unique charm, stunning natural beauty, and the delightful experience of the small ferry crossing. The Boathouse is a standout culinary destination. Some note that facilities are limited, and weather can be a factor.

"We stopped in the Shuna apartment for a week this year (June 2017). This is a well appointed but compact first floor apartment, with outstanding views in every direction, especially from the sitting room and bedroom. A short but steep walk from Tobermory Main Street, this is a first class accommodation. I'd definitely recommend it and we will almost certainly be making a return visit - hopefully the weather will be a tad more accommodating next time!"

Andy Bruce

"Columba apartment was brilliant. Fantastic view of harbour. Great kitchen good parking. Great supply of firewood"

Stephen Brown

"Stayed here for our honeymoon in May 2012, it was wonderful, relaxing luxury self catering, views amazing and accommodation just lovely!"
