What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Tryfan is hailed as a premier scrambling destination in the UK, offering an exhilarating and rewarding challenge. While many praise its 'playground' feel for experienced hikers, its demanding nature and tricky route-finding are consistently highlighted as reasons for caution, especially for beginners.
"Tryfan is, without a doubt, my favourite peak in the United Kingdom.
It is a magnificent mountain that offers a truly exhilarating and challenging Grade 1 scramble from the moment you leave the valley floor. The climb is engaging, hands-on, and incredibly rewarding, with a sense of achievement at the summit that is hard to beat.
However, a serious word of warning is essential. This is a proper mountain and it is absolutely not for beginners. The route-finding can be tricky, and the terrain is demanding. Do not attempt this without careful planning and, most importantly, a forecast for good weather. We would strongly recommend that you only attempt Tryfan if you are with an experienced hiker who knows the route intimately, or have hired a mountain guide.
For those with the right experience and preparation, this is one of the most memorable days you can have in the British mountains."

"This is a proper scramble and one of the the best hikes, more like climbs, of my life. Based on the route you choose, this can be moderate to extremely challenging. Make are you have at least 5 hours of your really want to enjoy yourself, we took about 7."

"North ridge 4.5.25 no were near as bad as alot of drama queens make out path is a bit hard to keep track of at times headed to the left and followed the path to the gully once we hit the north tower.
Has to be one of the best mountains in the uk total playground for scramblers
Enjoy ⛰️"
