What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find Wetheral Caves to be an interesting historical site with a lovely riverside walk, though some note it's not as 'magical' as anticipated. The free access and convenient parking are appreciated, but the steep and potentially muddy paths require caution, making it less suitable for those with mobility issues or young children without close supervision.
"Steep slopes next to the water, you can take a top path so you miss a lot of it. Then walk down so your not to close to the side. There's two footpaths to it, so it's easy to find. Not as magical as I wanted it to be, but still worth a visit if nothing to do. There 3 rooms that are just square, and some windows. Wear walking boots, not muddy. Stop off at the gate house as that was on the way. Loads of free parking in the village."
