"These cats weren’t just for decoration back in the day; they were believed to scare off rats during the plague and keep bad vibes at bay. There are 28 statues hidden in all sorts of places (rooftops, windows, …) around York, and with a trusty map in hand, it feels like a playful treasure hunt through the city’s most iconic spots. Within our limited time here, we managed to find 12 of them. The York Cat Trail is such an engaging and charming way to mix history, sightseeing, and a bit of feline magic."

"My sister and I didn’t specifically plan to follow the whole cat trail to find all the cats, but once we found the first few we were hooked and I am glad to say we completed the map!
The York Cat Trail store has all different colours with different meanings for each, and some different sizes to choose from. It’s a cute store. But be sure to check out the map with all the cats to find around the city. It was a great way to wander the streets and enjoy the city."
