Any low-level skates or casual stick-and-puck times in the ATL area?
I’m fairly new to the area and looking to keep up with hockey until AAHL summer leagues start in May. I’ve been going to the stick sessions in Cumming, but frankly they’re too high level for me. Are there any other options in the area that are a little more beginner friendly?
Beginner Hockey Practice
Looking for casual stick-and-puck? Midday sessions Mon-Thurs can be more beginner-friendly. :hockey_puck:
Adult Learner's Paradise
Impressed by rapid progress in adult skating classes. Coaches are excellent and the environment is welcoming. ⭐
I live in Georgia, United States & there really isn’t very much hockey around here...like...at all. So this is the summer training setup I have. All my equipment is purchased online because there are no pro shops within 2 hours of me. This is how I teach myself everything. YouTube, Reddit & practice
The Alpharetta outdoor roller rink is amazing. Just don’t go during the pollen storms.

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Cooler Ice Rink is highly praised for its excellent ice skating and hockey coaching, especially for adult learners who report significant progress. The facility offers a good environment for public skating and casual hockey practice. However, a major drawback consistently mentioned is the poor condition of the locker rooms, which detracts from an otherwise positive experience.
"I went ice skating for the very first time last Saturday around 3pm. It was packed and the place was super popular! They also had areas to host birthday parties, sit down to eat (although their cafe was not open), and a store for buying ice skating gear.
For two adults we paid around $34. I'd recommend you look online ahead of time since the 'public skating' hours vary and you need to prioritize going at a specific time.
The staff were nice and answered our questions, like if the skate shoe size correlates to our expected shoe size. Just like a regular skating rink, you can take your time on the sides while the fast skaters stick to the middle. No judgement there."

"The locker room is HORRIBLE. My husband isn't the picky type, but he hates it when games are at the cooler because the locker rooms are so gross. The whole team talks about it. The ice also isn't always great. Everything else about The Cooler is so nice, it's surprising that the locker rooms are this awful. I'd give 1 star, but everything else about The Cooler is actually super awesome. There is a warm place in a great spot to watch the games, good food, clean bathrooms... Etc."

"I’m an adult learner, and I started classes here in October. After only one session of classes, I have already progressed SO much. I am so impressed by the quality of coaches they have here, and how nice everyone is. This is a great learning environment for a learner of any age, and it’s also a great place to go to a public skate. The rental skates aren’t too bad, and I’ve used them for my entire first session of lessons with no issues. Now that I’ve learned so much here I’m getting my own skates- and of course taking the next classes in January!! I love this place so much and can’t express my gratitude for my new love of skating!!"
