Reviews Summary
Morningside Nature Preserve is a cherished urban oasis, particularly loved for its 'dog beach' where canine companions can play freely in the creek. Visitors appreciate the peaceful, wooded trails that offer a natural escape within the city. While the parking is limited and there are no restrooms, the overall experience is highly positive for those seeking a serene outdoor adventure, especially with their dogs.
"A nice small hiking place close to midtown. Pretty flat trail for most of the part which includes boardwalk and a small bridge over the creek. It has a loop around halfway and then back to the trailhead. You can get confused at maybe one or two intersections halfway through but if you use any maps for the trail, then you should be fine. The total hike was around ~1.8 miles and I spent about 45 minutes.
Public parking available, but it was very small with gravel road and can be improved. I didn’t see any restroom there."

"My wife and I have brought our pups here since before we were married. It's such a serene spot with the perfect doggy beach! After parking, you hike about a mile down a well maintained trail, go across a very cool suspension bridge, and end up at the creek. The water level varies widely but no matter what there's always enough water for the pups to swim, and there's lots of downed trees along the bank for sticks to throw and looks to sit on. This is one of our favorite spots in the city!"

"One of my favorite walks when visiting Atlanta! Right in the city, but feels like the country forest. The foliage becomes deliciously overgrown in the springtime. Creek there has a dog-friendly sandy shore, often with wet dogs shaking off their fur :). Watch out for some trash in the creek, especially after a storm; wear water shoes if walking in the water."
