What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Augusta Common is a well-loved public space, frequently praised for its role as a vibrant event venue hosting everything from music festivals to community gatherings. Visitors appreciate the atmosphere, the variety of events, and its central location. However, some note that the open greenspace can be very sunny and that handicapped parking could be improved.
"I have really enjoyed the candlelight jazz on Sunday evening at the commons. Believe me it is more than jazz. The atmosphere, the mature crowd has been phenomenal. Next Sunday is the the all white party, which will end this year summer festivities."
Melissa Walker
"The facilities are great! However, the parking for handicapped people leaves something to be desired. The city of Augusta needs to do better for people with disabilities."
Kevin Wilson
"Went here for the Juneteenth Festival and had a good time. The greenspace itself is open so it isn't as pleasant when the sun is glaring down but it has nice shade on the perimeter and some benches. I think the Oglethorpe statue smack in the middle is unnecessary, but overall it is a nice space for festivals and events, etc. It is a nice touch for it to be right across from the James Brown Statue and parking wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I found a spot on the street a block away. Being that there was a good bit of vendors for the festival, I like how the street was blocked off to give more space."
