The collection of Southern art is a highlight, with specific exhibits like Jonathan Greene's receiving commendation. While some desire more stylistic diversity, the museum is generally seen as a well-curated and welcoming destination for art lovers of all ages.
"The various galleries were nice and had a decent variety of different time periods throughout US history, however I personally would have really liked to have seen a bit more variety, diversity and more inspiring styles of art versus their mostly canvas, portraits, landscapes and oil paintings of traditional southern life. Our Dorset was knowledgeable and encouraged engagement and creative thinking about the various pieces on exhibit. Mrs. Marion also did an excellent job with the kids in the arts and crafts department and really inspired the younger generations creativity through art and imagination."
