What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Morrison Nature Center at Star K Ranch as a 'hidden gem' offering a wonderful, free nature experience. The knowledgeable and friendly staff, diverse habitats, and engaging exhibits for children are frequently highlighted as major positives. While some may find the center itself small, the overall peaceful atmosphere and accessibility of the trails make it a highly recommended spot for families and nature lovers.
"Hands down one of the best experiences I have had while hiking trails and birding. I am a flight attendant and when on layovers; I visit parks, nature centers, etc…the staff at Morrison Nature Center made my experience that much better. They were insightful, knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and generous. I plan to go back every chance I get. So if you’re staying (visiting) near the Denver airport and are looking for something fun and cool to do, I highly recommend going to the Morrison Nature Center. Great for hiking, walks, birding, biking and just being in nature."

"Spontaneous adventure today! We haven’t been here in 20 years! Even though it’s only 7 miles from home, we just don’t think about it! Well, haven’t. We will now! We back to open space but sometimes it’s nice to see and walk a different path. And pretty flat paths at that! The Nature Center itself is small but nice. We chatted with David quite a bit and learned about Colorado’s tarantulas, what?! and put to rest some urban myths about rattlesnakes vs bull snakes. Both of which we have seen in our yard and neighborhood. Good information👍 We are currently sitting on a bench in view of the Nature Center, enjoying this incredible weather. We just saw a very healthy looking coyote who seemed to be quite interested and completely unafraid of us, as our metro coyotes tend to be. We saw the beaver dam but no beavers. It’s just quite the peaceful place really. You can hear traffic if you listen and the occasional train horn but there is also birdsong and children calling out and laughing. What a great place! We are certainly glad to be reintroduced."

"This is the definition of a hidden gem. Beautiful open space with prairie, a cottonwood forest, and wetlands. On a brief visit, I spotted deer tracks, signs of beaver activity, and a turtle. There's a natural center, a 3/4 mile hiking loop, and a connection to the Sandcreek Greenway."
