What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise The Ridges Sanctuary for its serene atmosphere, well-maintained boardwalks, and unique ridge and swale ecosystem. The historic lighthouses and abundant nature, including birds and fungi, are highlights. The $5 honor system admission is seen as excellent value, though some visitors have noted the visitor center being closed unexpectedly.
"The Ridges actually is three properties – I was fortunate enough to have the time to hike all of the Logan Creek property, and then went onto the actual sanctuary down the road and hike to the longest loop trail.
In both cases, I saw a total of only seven people between the two properties. For me, that was delightful.
The trails are absolutely lovely with, for the most part, wide mulched paths. For the paths that are deeper in the wooded areas, they are well worn and clearly marked with tape.
There's so much to take in as far as the flowers and fungi and the sheer beauty of it all. Both parks are extremely well-maintained – I saw no trash at all.
Five dollars is an incredible value for admission – and it is an honor system."

"Peaceful and educational day/walk. A very nice lady told us about the lighthouse keepers home. They used newspaper to insulate back then. Highly recommend to all!."

"This is a nature walk area in Bailey's Harbour, with boardwalks all the way throughout the trail. The end of the boardwalk leads you up to the two lighthouses at either ends. The larger lighthouse has a small museum, with living areas showing how a lighthouse keeper would have lived there. There's a fee to check out the trail, and visit to the lighthouse museum is included in it."
