Reviews Summary

However, some reviews note ongoing construction, occasional litter in parking areas, and the need for supervision of children.
"This is for current conditions, on today, 17 SEP 2022.
There is significant construction in the whole area. Looks like a much needed renovation improvement of this whole part of Baltimore, MD. The parking is along the side roads that ring the park. It is well used, plenty of walkers, cyclists, runners. It is not a place to safely ride fast (over 10-12 mph). While I have over the years seen groups of road bikes pretending to be on a time trial, this is just not that kind of resource. Most people meander about with their face in a phone or with head phones/ear buds. Little kids are generally unsupervised and meander in the roadway.
Today the parks department was there with free rental cruisers---so very inexperienced riders being introduced to the sport, which is great, but comes along with a certain amount of aimless wandering. Not a destination ride by any means, but if you are local it is worth checking out. A loop around the lake is 1.5 miles.
Across Harford Rd is Herring Run Park, there is a trail that goes out through the neighborhood and around the Herring Run streambed. It is paved and well shaded, mostly empty at least today. We saw a few runners, one other cyclist. That might be the hidden gem of the whole thing. The trail is 3.5/4 miles around."

"Visited a friend in the area. Some streets are cleaner than others. It's like you're in a nice neighborhood then a few blocks over is the hood. I went jogging around lake Montebello. That was beautiful and there were lots of people out of a Sunday morning exercising too. The neighborhood looked nice. Single family homes that looked historic or Victorian to me, I'm no professional on housing structures. Quiet neighborhood. There was a house for sale on Kentucky Ave on Zillow for about$400k to give you an idea of who lives there. If I had the money I'd move there right by the lake. Baltimore has some nice hidden neighborhoods like these. I'm sure things go on there at night. There are used condoms on the ground where cars Park but not in walking Lanes. There is a water fountain by the pump house. Cool workout stations. No shade trees if you are walking the lake but there are trees around the outer perimeter where you park your car. You can walk your dog but must have a leash and pick up after them. They is also a bike lane. 1.2 miles around."
