Reviews Summary
Visitors find the New River ACEC to be a peaceful and educational nature spot, particularly enjoying the shady woodland trails and the informative nature center. While the sandy trails can be challenging, the abundance of huckleberries in August and the quiet environment make it a worthwhile visit for families and nature lovers.
"This is basically a nice walk mostly in the woods so it’s shady. We went in August. There is free parking at the entrance, and an information stand. There is also an office but we didn't go in. Bathrooms are available. There were no bugs but there were bees. There is sand … a lot of it … on the trails. We all ended up with shoe’s full of sand, and it made for slow going in spots. As you near the New River, you’ll hear ocean waves crashing. We never saw them just a glimpse of the ocean across the river. There were tons of huckleberries, and we ate quite a few!"
