Trail/walking suggestions

I have some family visiting from out of town and I’d like to take them somewhere for a walk/trail/hike. It doesn’t need to be strenuous or anything. I’d like it to be near the water. Anywhere on the south shore from Copiague to Blue Point. Thank you in advance!

Reviews Summary

Captree State Park is highly praised for its beautiful sunsets and excellent opportunities for fishing and crabbing, making it a favorite for families and anglers. While some find clamming disappointing, the overall experience is enhanced by the peaceful bayside atmosphere and convenient amenities.

"I usually come to the parking lot to study. Not many parked cars if you go all the way in the back to park near the ocean. I just park there and study. Restrooms are a minute away from the parking spot that I just mentioned. You can also find a bench to sit facing the boats and do some light work or relax. I always prefer this site over anywhere in fire island. Enjoy simple places and keep making good memories."

Xeno G

"Got to experience a magical sunset there! You can get drinks or some good lobster at the nearby restaurant which has good music, enjoy seeing the goose walking around, the magical vibes of the sunset combined with the small marina and tons of boats and birds. You can also go on fishing trips there but we haven't tried ourselves, I'd say it's worth a detour."

Olivia Heynard

"Sunsets are always the best there. We go crabbing and fishing there all the time, and always come back with a pretty decent haul. DONT recommend going clamming though, never find anything 🤣"
