Ahoy! Well it was a day full of music for the first annual Porchfest Benicia with thousands of attendees and truly glorious weather for this last day of summer. In between the bands, I was able to get my history fix by visiting the Benicia Capitol State Historic Park.

Mom and I walked into town today. We hit the beach, stopped to play ON the public piano (quite literally as I just sprung up on top of it where the view was better), visited the Benicia Capitol State Historic Park, and met a lovely neighbor on our way home who gave us Cosmos seeds to plant. It was a perfect Sunday morning. Cool fact about Benicia…it was the 3rd capital of California from 1853-54....

"I had been here previously but did a self guided tour. This time, docent Charlie Clement, offered a lot of interesting information. He really does a great job. We really enjoyed it."

Carlos Cabrera

Immersing in a historical California state establishment and wonder how CA government was organizing in old days. A friendly clerk to patiently introudce the brief background and warmly welcome to watch all the specialities. Not a big park outside of the building but a short walk to realize how it was operating. 13 months capitol still marked the impressive milestone. Fees is required per person. Not hard to park around the street."
