Big Sur: Boronda Loop Ventana Wilderness Overnight Parking
Has anyone done this before? I am thinking of going next week and plan to extend it a bit, but I have never overnight parked along the PCH. Is it okay to park overnight there, or should I park in Pfiepher State Park? Also, would I need a bear can to go up there?

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Hikers praise the spectacular Big Sur coastline views and the challenging, rewarding climb of Boronda Trail. However, the trail's intense sun exposure, unpredictable weather, and prevalent ticks are significant drawbacks that require thorough preparation.
"I did this hike to timber top in January, and both sweated and freezed. There's very minimal shade on this trail, so bring sun gear as well be prepared for ALL seasons. Other than sun exposure, we got rained on, were in wind, hailed on, and were freezing. Sunwear, rainwear, and hard warmers came in handy. I drank 2L. Also, I'd recommend getting gas before you start going down the 1 as it's limited and expensive. I cleaned about 6 ticks from my pup afterward as well."

"Good hikes and great views. Pretty steep. Didn’t go all the way to timber top but it’s really nice. Pretty hot on the exposed areas which the whole thing pretty much is so if you’re going this time of year plan accordingly. Also the flys are insane. We camped overnight, and the flys went away once the sun went down but dang they were annoying when the sun was up."

"This trail has minimal shade but it is a great hike! You climb up the first 3 miles then back down 3 but the views at the top are amazing! Make sure to take a headlamp if you are going to watch the sunset here."
