What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Cassell Coliseum is lauded for its electrifying game day atmosphere and the passionate Hokie Nation fanbase, creating an unforgettable experience. While the acoustics are a major draw, they can also lead to very high noise levels. The venue is cashless, and parking requires planning, with general lots being remote. Overall, it's a beloved spot for Virginia Tech sports enthusiasts.
"My son and I had the chance to go to the Virginia Tech/SMU game on 02/05. He thought that Cassell Coliseum was too loud for his little ears (the place has great acoustics, LOL). SMU, fortunately, netted the win in this great venue. It doesn't seem like there's a bad seat in the place, and the crowd definitely supports the Hokies."

"When the Hokies are winning and this place is full it is one of the loudest home venues in college basketball. However, when they are struggling the home team advantage is average at best. It's an on campus arena and donors have access to the best parking. General parking is in the remote lots and you have a fairly long walk or you can take one of the shuttle buses that run about every 15 or 20 minutes. Concessions are what you would expect, the usual hot dogs, pop corn and soft drinks. Beer is served with valid ID. The is a small variety of specialty concessions like BBQ and sandwiches. The usual entertainment venue mark up is to be expected and prices are in line with other sports venues. Cassell Coliseum is a cashless venue accepting only credit/debit, apple and Google pay."

"Took my wife to her first live basketball game. We had a good time. Being in our mid-60s, I was impressed to see her dancing in an attempt to get on the jumbo Tran."
