What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the stunning, panoramic views and unique geological formations at the Wind Caves, calling the hike a rewarding experience. However, many note the challenging access requiring 4WD and the steep, rocky trail, advising thorough preparation with water and offline maps.
"You’ll need to 4wd to get out along the wash to get to it. The hike itself isn’t too bad just under one mile but it goes straight up from wash ( elevation gained is roughly 259ft). Maybe moderate in areas. The view from up there is gorgeous. Download map on all trails first. Trailhead is a little hard to find."

"The sign at the beginning of the trail was missing. My GPS told me where the trail started. Short hike, but it was steep grade for the first part of the hike. No dogs allowed."
Bob M
"Need a 4x4 or all-wheel drive. The canyon leading to the trail entrance we used us spectacular. High canyon walls and various geological features will keep your attention. Watch out for oncoming traffic in the turns and proceed slowly. Download maps ahead of time, as the location to the trail is not well marked and maps can be lost. Up hill hike, over rocks, so limited mobility will have issues getting to this location. Worth the effort to get there. Take lots of photos and knave no trace!"
