What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Otter Creek Recreation Area for its beautiful, refreshing creek perfect for floating and swimming, and its pleasant camping facilities. However, some trails are currently overgrown and impacted by flooding, and there are concerns about broader water pollution affecting wildlife.
"I do not even know what to say. The Ohio river. Thousands of dead fish. All types. In the water, the shore, and so on. I don't even really know if you can consider this a otter creek issue but I know it is a Kentucky issue. How does it feel knowing the state is known for the most disgusting polluted river in the east U.S.? They stock the rivers and ponds every year but why does it matter when this water seeps into it? Why stock trout when you can't eat it because it's so poisoned. This is why all the wild life has mange and sickness. This is why the area is dying. Kentucky has signage and statements everywhere concerning the water ways needing to stay clean but there is always boil advisories. And they don't care about the factories dumping, the run off, the bureaucracy that clears deals dangerous and uncaring for the enviroment. it's sad, it's disgusting. The news will never do anything about it because they do not care. The majority of individuals do not care because they live in cities or on their rolling hills. This has been an issue for decades. To quote, "Only when the last tree has been cut down, the last fish caught, and the last stream poisoned, will the white man realize he cannot eat money." I hope I see in my lifetime, that people become educated, people care, this part of the U.S. is cleaned up, through local, state, and federal government actually do something impactful for this enviroment, and this river heals."

"Son in law fished and thoroughly enjoyed himself. I tried to mountain bike the OCT VCT, and RCT trails. They were overgrown and a ton of trees down. Not recommended for riding at the moment."

"Good tent camping, nice clean lake with a kayak boat ramp. Not much firewood to use so be prepared. Water spigots throughout and clean bathrooms."
