"It was a peaceful and quiet afternoon when I visited. I practically had the entire place to myself aside for a couple other visitors. This allowed for meditation and grounding. I bought some souvenirs to support the museum. There is a river in which they have benches to allow one to sit by the river bank and listen to it roll by. It was a very tranquil experience. I will definitely visit again, hoping to take archery lessons."

The Mississippian Culture at Etowah

Etowah Indian Mounds State Historic Site is a remarkable testament to the Mississippian culture, which flourished in the Southeastern United States from approximately 800 to 1600 CE. This 54-acre site protects six earthen mounds, a plaza, a village site, borrow pits, and a defensive ditch, making it one of the most intact Mississippian sites in the region. The site was occupied by different native cultures until the 1830s. Instagram
