While the drive to reach it is long, the spectacular waterfall and refreshing mist make it a worthwhile stop. Some mention limited parking as a minor inconvenience.

"A lovely short stop! Just a few minutes’ walk from the parking lot to reach the waterfall. We visited in early October — not crowded at all, peaceful, and easy to access. The falls were still flowing beautifully, making it a perfect quick break surrounded by fresh mist and tall pines."

Marta Stashevska

"We visited in April 2025.

This was our favorite waterfall in all of Sequoia and King's canyon national Parks.

It's only about 100 yards off of the main road.

At high water it is spectacular. And there's a lovely cooling mist that comes off of the waterfall.

Later in the season I'm sure this would be a great place to cool off.

There are several nice picnic tables here as well, so it's a great place to grab lunch or have a snack."

Daniel Druker

"Grizzly Falls was very cool. It is literally a few feet from the parking lot. However, it's a very long drive to get there. But I think it is worth it because you get to see so much cool stuff along the way."

📸 📸 Photography Tips

For capturing the mist and motion, use a slower shutter speed (e.g., 1/15 to 1 second) with a tripod to avoid blur. For a sharp image, a faster shutter speed will freeze the water. Consider a polarizing filter to reduce glare on wet rocks. Instagram

Early morning or late afternoon light provides softer, more flattering light. Midday sun can be harsh and create strong shadows. Instagram

A wide-angle lens is great for capturing the entire waterfall and its surroundings. A telephoto lens can be useful for isolating specific details of the falls. Instagram

The main viewing area right off the path offers excellent perspectives. You can also find slightly different angles by carefully exploring the immediate vicinity. Instagram

A tripod is highly recommended for long exposures. Bring lens cloths to wipe away mist and a rain cover for your camera if conditions are wet. Instagram
