Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the hands-on experience of exploring beautifully restored vintage train cars and locomotives, with many highlighting the impressive scale of the engines. The affordability and family-friendly nature are frequently praised, though some note that the volunteer-run nature leads to restrictive hours and potential accessibility challenges.

"This a great place to explore the old trains! Full access to a variety of train cars and locomotives. Beautiful full-car restorations!"

Rick LaCava

"You don't think about how big trains are until you're standing next to them. I've held dozens of toy train EMD E-types, but then you go stand in front of it and it's biblical.

I like how much stuff they have. I like being able to be in the cabin of the steam locomotive. I like how much you can walk thru. I wish the observation car wasn't covered with a big tarp, but I also know it would be impossibly hot in there without the big tarp. I've been in old train cars that are way more haunted than any of the ones here, but there's still a persistent stressful energy in the kitchens. There's always a stressful energy in old staff kitchens.

It's a hard museum to visit just because it's all volunteer and they have very restrictive hours. You can't just pop in, you need a plan. I wasn't trying to read anything and I saw everything in about 90 minutes, so that's a good minimum time.

Not wheelchair friendly. Tis the nature of vehicles from before ADA was signed into law."

Funny Animato (Andrew Gooden)

"This place is a fun stop with lots of history and interesting info. Walking through the train and checking out the observation deck is a must. The miniature train setup is a cool bonus too."
