What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Burnet Woods is a cherished natural escape within Cincinnati, praised for its serene mornings, beautiful wooded trails, and lake. Visitors appreciate its accessibility and the opportunity for bird watching and peaceful walks. However, some reviews caution about safety concerns and litter, particularly during later hours, suggesting early morning visits are ideal.
"I lived in Clifton by Ludlow Ave and went to Burnet Woods daily with my dogs, on a run, or just to “escape” the city. The park itself is really beautiful, but it’s a bit tainted by the people who frequent it. There’s normally a group of people who sit by the fountain near the entrance of the park who will not hesitate to make unwarranted comments or stare at you if you are a woman. Those same people (and others) leave their needles, clothes, and trash around the park. I’ve seen it firsthand. I will never forget seeing used needles right next to the trail. It was a reminder that although it can be a beautiful park, it’s still in Clifton.
The park is at its best in the morning. There is a heron that is always there, and the morning dew makes it look like a movie scene. I would not advise going there really any other time of day, ESPECIALLY WITH CHILDREN.
Also, UC ROTC does training there, so you’ll randomly see people in gear walking through the woods, which can be a little weird and off-putting.
Overall, if you live in the area or are already
visiting I’d definitely recommend it. However, I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit."
