Reviews Summary

Crane Mountain offers a challenging yet rewarding hiking experience with stunning summit views and unique features like ladders and rocky terrain. While many praise its beauty and adventure, some visitors note difficulties with trail marking and navigation, especially in challenging conditions. It's a great spot for those seeking a less-explored Adirondack peak.

"This does not take you to the trailhead. Type in crane mountain trailhead if you are using this for directions. I ended up in the totally wrong place lol. This mountain is the best though. 3 hours for the pond loop and to the top then back down. Piece of cake. A fun ladder, lots of boulders to play on, a cool pound near the top, lots of mushrooms and moss and tons of looks outs. My second favorite low peak now. You can also free climb some cliff like stuff if you take the right up the first slabs you come to but a bush whack is in order after you get towards the top. The mountain is a little difficult to navigate though."

"One of the most beautiful hikes in the area! Very rocky and quite steep, so come prepared.

The direct route up features a small and a large ladder. I like coming up this way and looping back down around the pond, it adds maybe a quarter mile or so to your hike but is easier coming down this way and changes up the scenery nicely. You could also come up this way if you are afraid of ladders."

Amanda Baldwin

"The views were incredible. It is definitely a difficult hike. We went up which was fine it is very vertical however. The trek down was the hard part in April it's covered in ice. It looks like people have taken some trail markers and we ended up lost for a period of time. The blue trail is not for the faint at heart. If you stick to red and yellow when the ground is not frozen you will have a fantastic time. I will definitely be back. But with all the ice and the trail mix ups I have to rate it a 3 there are far better trails out there but this one was great for the simple fact it isn't explored as much."
