What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Loft Mountain Campground for its amazing views, abundant wildlife, and convenient amenities like clean restrooms and an on-site store. It's considered a favorite spot for its balance of natural beauty and comfort. Some sites can be hilly, and noise levels aren't always enforced during quiet hours, but overall, it's a highly recommended camping destination.
"Always love this campground. Nice bathrooms, no showers. Views are amazing, wild life lots of deer at dusk must have seen 15. Some sites very hilly. The front of my camper was 12 to 15 inches lower than back. Otherwise a favorite."

"An Amazing Camping Experience! 🌲☕🍺
Our stay here was absolutely fantastic! The entire campground is incredibly well-maintained, with clean showers, toilets, and laundry facilities that made everything super convenient. There’s even a small on-site shop stocked with all the essentials you could possibly need for camping — from gear to locally brewed beer, which was a delightful surprise!
The park rangers were outstanding — so friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, making the whole experience even more enjoyable.
If you’re looking for a spot with a view, I highly recommend Block E, Parking Spot 50. That’s where I snapped my favorite picture of the trip. Imagine starting your morning with a hot cup of coffee on a scenic ledge, soaking in peaceful nature views — the kind of moment that makes you feel like you’re in a postcard.
Whether you’re a seasoned camper or trying it out for the first time, this place is a gem. Can’t wait to come back!"

"Loft Mountain Campground is a fantastic spot and definitely one of our favorites in Shenandoah! It’s better than Mathew’s Arm Campground when it comes to food access, firewood availability, and basic camping amenities — everything felt easy and convenient here.
The greenery level is just right — less dense than Mathew’s Arm (so you get more open sky views) but more wooded than Big Meadows, giving a nice mix of shade and privacy.
We also did the Blackrock Summit Trail, which was an easy hike with a stunning view at sunset, just 8 mins drive from this loft mountain campground — highly recommend adding it to your trip! Loved that there are many other Appalachian Trail sections right around the campground, making it a great base for short or longer hikes.
We had so much fun during our stay and would definitely come back for the perfect mix of convenience, greenery, and adventure."
