Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Crystal River Preserve Eco-Walk Trail for its peaceful atmosphere and beautiful native forest scenery. Many enjoy the opportunity to observe wildlife, though sightings can vary. Some reviewers note that the trail can be muddy and buggy, recommending appropriate footwear and insect repellent.

"Beautiful 2.2 Mile Loop. We saw four snakes, three in the first 0.5 miles and one large cottonmouth towards the end- so watch where you step! There were a bunch of huge golden silk spiders, so also look ahead, so you don't end up getting stuck in their nets. Unfortunately there are also a lot of mosquitoes, so don't forget to put on bug spray. The vegetation is beautiful, with many palm trees and a lot of spanish moss. There are several parking spots available at the trailhead, and a sign says the gates are open until sundown."

"Nice 2-mile well-marked loop trail through native forest. Nice to get off the beaten path and just enjoy the forest, but there wasn't too much to see. We did see a large turtle in a natural pond, and a number of birds, but otherwise very little wild life. Very flat dirt paths and a few benches you can rest on. It looks like many areas, including the path, have been terrorized by wild boars as the ground has been dug through."

Thomas G

"Not much wildlife but trail was flat, clean and open. Temp was 75 the trail is 80% shaded nice 2 mile walk.. no bugs until we got back to the car then we had those little no see-ums. There was lots of hog presence but no visible hogs.. keep dogs on a leash. Parking was about 8 cars"
