Went to Crystal River Archaeological State Park to visit the Indian burial grounds - a truly spectacular place. Took a hike around the park. Then popped over to the coast to melt into the sunset. Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Crystal River Archaeological State Park for its historical significance, well-maintained grounds, and affordable admission. Many appreciate the interpretive center and the scenic river views from the mounds. Some note that manatees are not typically seen within the park itself, but rather in nearby springs.

"Great park to stop at on a road trip or just for a walk.

The interpretive center was really interesting. There's even a little movie to watch. We stopped in to cool off and see what the park is all about.

Beautiful view of the river! I'm in terribly physical shape, but make it up the stairs to the top of the mound w/the lookout over the river. After touring the nature center, it was easy to imagine canoes traveling up and down the river and meeting where the park is.

Didn't see any manatees. Wrong time of year."

"Lots of puddles in picnic areas due to recent rains but SUCH a well maintained gorgeous site and so interesting to see artifacts on display in small museum. Just lovely! Only 3 bucks!"

"Crystal River Archaeological State Park is a true treasure, offering invaluable contributions to anthropology, archaeology, and the local community. The preserved mounds and ongoing research bring our local history vividly to life. Events like "Moons Over the Mounds" connect visitors to the site's rich cultural significance. A few years back when I began my academic journey into cross-cultural psychology I spoke with and interviewed Sean Norman, who expressed an interest in creating a garden which would house indigenous like amouranth. I’m especially hopeful they realize their vision of creating a culturally relevant indigenous garden and think it cpuld be a beautiful tribute to the area's heritage."
