"Easy hike even in rain. Peaceful! Nice 3 mile loop trail. Not well marked or it would be a 5 star"

🍁 Have you tried Hiking in Smoky Mountains during Fall? 🤩The beauty is truely breathtaking. 🌳🍂With endless hiking trails to choose from, we decided to explore two of them - the Cucumber Gap, a serene path along the river, and the Little River Loop, an easy stroll along an old logging trail. We planned for a 2-hour hike, but it turned into almost 4 hours. Why? We got lost in the beauty and took...

Reviews Summary

Visitors find the Cucumber Gap Loop to be a pleasant and peaceful hike, particularly for its scenic mountain stream and moss-covered environment. While the water feature at the end isn't a dramatic waterfall, the overall experience is enjoyable and family-friendly. Some reviewers noted that trail markings could be improved for a perfect score.

"We took our 8, 9, and 14 year old kids with us on this hike. Easy parking, but not a lot of spots available when we went in early April. Get a parking pass at one of the park stations.

Steady incline for a couple miles. Vehicle width gravel path along a picturesque mountain stream. Lots of moss covered rocks and trees. Plenty of places to stop and hang out by the water, and in some places at the same elevation and can get into the water. Saw a couple people fly fishing. There are some remains of old cabins at the entrance, can take some cool photos there. There is an event, or special use space in a large old cabins also by the entrance.

The water feature at the end of this particular trail is not gonna blow your mind, but it’s nice. We enjoyed the hike and I would do it again (my 8 year old, who is often a bit dramatic might say differently from his perspective)"
