Crikey!…Living my Steve Irwin dreams. For about an hour, I walked along the Gator Boardwalk in Daphne, Alabama searching for gators and muttering a terrible Australian accent under my breath. Didn’t see any until this one poked out from under the boardwalk, and then we just hung out with each other for the next hour as it soaked in the sun. Reviews Summary

Visitors generally find the Gator Boardwalk a worthwhile stop for a quick nature experience, especially for the chance to see alligators. While the boardwalk itself is short and could use some updates, the thrill of spotting wildlife, particularly in the late afternoon, makes it a memorable experience for many, especially those unfamiliar with gators. Reddit+1

"The boardwalk is an easy 5 minutes walk north of the parking lot. It is underneath the highway, and there'll be bird droppings. Walk past the highway, the boardwalk forks out left to a trail on far side of the pond (motel side), and the trail on the right (near) side of the pond continues north.

I went after 4pm, not busy at all. I stayed over an hour and didn't spot an alligator. Then I cross the street (N Main street) to the other (smaller) side of the pond and voilà! One gator just chilling in the shade and it certainly made my day.

I consider myself lucky to see a gator so it's definitely 5. If I didn't see one - my only goal - the boardwalk itself is 3 as it is rather short. I can't comment on the trails as I just stayed around the pond the whole time. If you go for gators, remember to check the other pond across the street."

Paul

"Nice place to walk around. We saw one small alligator. Worth taking time for a quick visit."

Mark Smith

"Didn't see any gators on this hot day but the little boardwalk was nice. If you stay at the Hampton the boardwalk is actually right out front no need to drive to the other side."
