What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
City Island Park is appreciated for its waterfront activities like paddleboarding and fishing, along with its convenient free parking and shaded playground. However, some visitors have expressed concerns regarding the presence of homeless individuals and perceived neglect in maintenance, which has impacted their overall experience.
"I had such a great experience visiting City Island in Daytona. It's truly one of the hidden gems in the area, especially if you're looking for a relaxing day by the water. I went paddle boarding and had an amazing time — the water was calm and the scenery around the island is beautiful. It’s a perfect spot for beginners or anyone just looking to enjoy a peaceful time on the water.
One of the best parts about City Island is how convenient and accessible it is. Free parking was a huge plus — no need to worry about meters or parking fees. The park itself is clean and well-kept, with plenty of shaded areas and benches to relax. There are public restrooms close by, which were also clean and easy to access.
What really makes this spot stand out is how close it is to everything. After paddle boarding, I was able to walk to several great restaurants nearby. Whether you want a quick bite or a sit-down meal, there are plenty of options just minutes away.
City Island feels peaceful and tucked away, even though it's right in the heart of Daytona. It's the perfect combination of nature and convenience. Whether you're paddle boarding, walking, picnicking, or just looking for a quiet spot to unwind, I highly recommend checking it out. I’ll definitely be returning soon!"

"Decent fishing from pier, but a lot of homeless people sleeping there and doing drugs. People ask us for change or smokes every time. One lady kept screaming profanities from the pier all the way down the block until we couldn't hear her anymore. You would think that they would kick out the homeless since it is literally at the courthouse, but nope, It seems that homeless just took over this once great spot. Bathrooms have homeless people all around. We won't be going back until this park is cleaned up."

"I have lived here for for a few years and had not even know this playground was back here. It is nice that you need to go through the Library to get here because it tends to keep the homeless population that continually hangs out in and around the library. Nice place to take the kids while you are at the library but with the surrounding area, I personally not bring my kid here unless we were already going to the library. It is well maintained and most of the park is under a shade."
