"The hike starts at sunrise point parking lot.
We did an early morning hike to Dege peak and were super excited to see a baby and mama bear up close on this trail. The bears were not aggressive and slowly retreated into tree cover and watched us from a safe distance.
There were folks on the peak who had stayed up since 11pm to watch the meteor shower too.
We continued our hike by the sourdough trail up to sunrise visitor center and onward to Mt Fremont Fire lookout."

"Great - light hike, done in less than two hours back and forth. Got it recommended at visitor centre. Beautiful views of Mount Rainer all the way back to the parking lot and i could see chipmunks/squirrels as well."
Anit B.
"I came to Dege peak for a sunrise hike. It was really dark in the beginning hours, so bring lots of flashlights and lanterns. It's really chilly at the top, so be sure you're dressed in warm clothing! The view at the top when the sun rises and illuminates the valley and Mt. Rainier make the entire thing so worth it. If you look off in the distance, you can see Mt Adams! You won't regret this experience if you set out early for a sunrise hike!!"
